President

The President of the Student Government Association is the chair of the regular meetings as well as the main supervisor and the main face of the organization to the students, university, and outside entities. It is expected to lead meeting committees with the university and represent the students as well as the SGA. Consequently the president has to be clearly professional in conducting any business of the SGA. The president can sign legally binding contracts with outside entities. The president is also expected to define, in consultation with the mandates, an overall strategy for SGA and to keep the organization on its aim. The President is also responsible to directly supervise some offices, which are allocated based on the negotiation with its VPs. The president has to regularly communicate with the mandated officers and update them all before it would commit to any obligations with the university or the outside word. Its duties also involve administrative duties as well as personal presence on distinguished events.

         


Vice President

The Vice President is expected to be one of the main supervisor (others being the other VP and the President) of the organization and one of the main pillars to it. The VP, based on the agreement with the other VP and with the President, regularly reviews the work of particular offices as well as helps them to function and define their goals if needed. The VP is expected to participate in meeting committees or even to head them if needed. Moreover, its duties involve administrative duties as well as personal presence on distinguished events. The VP is one of the main face of the organization and one of its co-chairs, therefore, professionalism is a must. The VP also has to report activities and act as an adviser to the president.


Graduate Student Officer

The Graduate Student Officer is SGA’s main contact to the graduate student body within Webster Vienna. The duties of the GSO are diverse in their nature. Its primary duties involve (but are not limited to) updating graduate students in changes in university polices, providing them with information on their rights and duties to the university, consulting them in cases of complaints, promoting SGA events to them and organizing events for them.


Financial Officer

The Financial Officer has to be a German speaker, and has to make sure to execute its duties with the utmost precision, as she/he handles the SGA finances. This person has to keep a regular contact with SGA’s ÖH accountant and regularly update SGA members on the current financial situation of the organization. This person has to keep a track of the spending of other officers based on their reports. Moreover, this officer has to make sure those members of the student governments are properly and timely reimbursed for their spending that was pre-approved by the student government.


Assistant Financial Officer

The Assistant Financial Officer (AFO) has to work closely with the Financial Officer (or Treasurer) on a regular basis. The AFO is likely (but not necessarily) the next in line for the Financial Officer position. During their time working together the Financial Officer has to transfer the insights and particularities of the role to the AFO. This means that the AFO is expected to have the same personal qualities as the Financial Officer. The AFO has to be a German speaker, has to make sure to execute its duties with the utmost precision, as she/he handles the SGA finances.


Events Officer

The events officer has to be a proactive person who organizes events and advertises them through social media to students. This person has to have good communicational skill as well as a dedication to enhance the student life activity on and off campus.


Assistant Events Officer

The Assistant Events Officer (AEO) is the right hand of the Events Officer. The AEO is expected to have similar personal qualities as the Events Officer. This means that the AEO has to be a proactive person who organizes events and advertises them through social media to students. This person has to have good communicational skill as well as a dedication to enhance the student life activity on and off campus. The AEO is also likely (but not necessarily) will follow the Events Officer in line thus this is a learning position to start your SGA career from


PR Officer

The main duty of the PRO is to help SGA make its activities; events, meetings, decisions, and its university governance related activities visible for student. This position allows for a high level of creativity, as the possible means of communication between the SGA and the students are numerous. The selected person has to demonstrate dedication and willingness to maintain the already existing platforms, and most importantly to introduce new and innovative ways of transferring information from the SGA to the students.


Assistant PR Officer

The Assistant Public Relations Officer (APRO) is the right hand of the Public Relations Officer (PRO). The APRO is required to support the work of the PRO. The APRO can also engage into her/his own projects in order to help the SGA reach out to students. This is an important task because the SGA has to make sure that it can clearly and effectively communicate to its constituents on multiple platforms! Creative thinking can come very handy at this position. As this is an assistant position, it is a perfect first step for anyone wishing to be engaged with the SGA on a deeper level!


Clubs Officer

The Clubs Officer is responsible for registering and overseeing the registered clubs at Webster Vienna. In some instances, the Clubs Officer has to be in charge of certain clubs as well if the situation requires it. This position requires a person who has some management skills and wants to develop it further. An active role in management is to be expected as this officer has the duty to channel the financial requests of each club and also to regularly report on their activities.


Assistant Clubs Officer

The Assistant Clubs Officer (ACO) has to support the work of the Clubs Officer (CO). The ACO is also allowed to engage into her/his own projects or lead clubs personally if needed. However, close consultation with the CO is always advised! As this is an assistant position it is perfect for those who wish to start developing management skills and want to get engaged with the SGA on a deeper level.


Integration Officer

The Integration Officer is responsible for the management of the new students in Webster Vienna. This mainly means to be the contact person for the new students from SGA’s side and to provide them with information about Vienna, Webster and the SGA. It also means organizing occasional events.


International Student Officer

The International Student Officer (ISO) is responsible for the management of the study abroad students in Webster Vienna. This mainly means to be the contact person for the study abroad students from SGA’s side and to provide them with information about Vienna, Webster and the SGA. It also means organizing occasional events


Assistant International Student Officer

The Assistant International Student Officer (AISO) is responsible for helping the International Student Officer (ISO) in the management of the study abroad students in Webster Vienna. The AISO has to be the co-contact person for the study abroad students from SGA’s side and has to provide them with information about Vienna, Webster and the SGA. It also means organizing occasional events with the ISO


Secretary

The secretary’s duties mostly involve taking the meeting minutes, help setting up the meeting room, create the meeting events on Facebook, printing the meeting minutes and the agendas for each meeting.


Dorms Representative

This person elected through the processes specific to the Augarten dorms and has to be recognized not only by the students living there but also by the dorms manager. In order to participate in the SGA meetings with its title, the said representative also has to be approved by the SGA formally. If the dorm representative wishes to obtain SGA support (financial/organizational) then she/he has to participate on the SGA’s weekly meetings regularly


Education Officer

The Education Officer is responsible for ensuring that the curricular requirements are aligned with the course offerings and to overall help enhance the curricular excellence of the Webster Vienna Campus.

The education officer is the head and chair of the Student Curriculum Development Committee (SCDC). The frequency of the meeting times and the schedule of the meetings is up to the Education officer and to the availability of the counselors.

Upon the invitation of the director and the department heads to review the planned courses, the Education Officer is tasked to lead the SCDC, supervise, and aid the work of the counselors in reviewing the planned course scheduling for the upcoming semesters and providing student feedback.

This person is expected to attend the weekly meetings of the Student Government Association, and report to the President or to the VPs upon request.


Assistant Education Officer

The Assistant Education Officer is the Vice-Chair of the Student Curriculum Development Committee (SCDC) and the primary assistant to the tasks of the Education Officer.

The Assistant Education Officer is expected to closely engage in work with the Education Officer and chair meetings, or represent her/him in the senate if needed. This person is expected (but not required) to eventually become the Education Officer and ensure a transfer of knowledge to the new assistant. This person is expected to participate on the weekly meetings of the student government.
